Kathy Kernan, art teacher, has been at Felix A. Williams since the school opened its doors in 1994. She has taught in the Martin County School District for 20 years.
The art room is a very busy place! The program is designed to stimulate the childrens imagination and creativity by introducing a variety of visual art forms. Students have hands-on experiences working with different media and techniques including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. Students also learn about art history and arts of other cultures. Ms. Kernan also works with classroom teachers to develop theme based cross-curricular activities which incorporated art with reading, writing, social studies, and science. Ms. Kernan shares our students art work with others during the Martin County Fair, at area art shows, in the Martin County School Board Meeting room and our media center.
Ms. Kernan is a National Board Certified Teacher and was selected as Martin County's Teacher of the Year in 2002.

Coach Bradley has been teaching physical education in Martin County since 1989, coming to Felix A. Williams in 1995. He teaches six classes a day, kindergarten through fifth grade. He was the 2007 Teacher of the Year for Felix A. Williams. Coach strives to involve all students in a total program of physical fitness and wellness. He develops in his students an appreciation for wholesome play and recreation. You will always find his students practicing skills for a certain sport, learning the rules of the game, or deeply involved in a team competition. Every year, Coach Bradley selects students to participate in our district track meet sponsored by the Martin County Parks and Recreation Department. Third, fourth, and fifth graders compete in running events, relays, and field events such as softball throw and running long jump at the Russell Track Meet at South Fork High School. We were extremely pleased one year to be selected to receive the Cheryl Hubbard Sportsmanship Trophy given to one school each year. Our school has been bringing home trophies in track every year since 1995. This is definitely a reflection of the influence Coach Bradley has on our students.

Mr. Shaver has been a teacher at
Felix A. Williams since 2001. He looks forward each year to providing the students with many
enjoyable "music" moments.
Mr. Shaver encourages students to dedicate time to music, whether during music class, joining the chorus, or participating in the band. He leads our students in performing at Music In Our Schools every year. Our community hears the success of his involvement with our students as the chorus sings at area retirement homes, at special school programs, and other community events.

Mrs. Higgins is our Science Lab teacher. She has been a member of the Felix Williams Elementary School Family since 2005. She provides opportunities for exploration and experimentation on a daily basis. In her lab children spend their time learning about the world around them through a variety of hands on activities. Children work in teams to collect, share, predict, solve problems, make decisions, and share new ideas. They learn to collect data and record their findings on charts and graphs so they can organize and evaluate the information they have learned.
Mrs. Higgins also heads up our Science Fair. It is because of all her hard work and dedication in the lab that we have so many budding "scientists" at Felix A. Williams. Mrs. Higgins is always looking for Science Fair judges to help judge the many projects submitted each year. If you are interested in helping judge the Fair please contact Mrs. Higgins at the school.
