Happy Summer!!!
THANK YOU ALL! terrific book fair and loads of new books to process. I will also be adding the new AR tests as soon as they come in, new books, new tests.

You should all know the Book Fair raises funds for the library as well as giving us tons of free books. The spring fair provided us with over $1,600 worth of FREE books for the library!! It's a great way to help out the whole school while giving your child the gift of reading.
Check your child's backpack for the instructions on how to take part in the READ for The RECORD, a new and exciting way to keep reading this summer.
Thank you for your support!

Your book crazy Media Specialist,

The new 2010-2011 Sunshine books are everywhere, Barnes and Noble, the public library and our school library. Please check out the link below for more information and the list. We also have a list on bookmarks for all the students. We would like to encourage the parents to read them along with the kids, there are some good ones this year. If a parent reads one please send in a note with your child to give to me, the media specialist, and I will put them on my list. The students will have their names on a chart in the library and they get a sticker for each Sunshine Book that they read and take an AR test on and pass with an 80 % or higher. After reading 3 they will receive a Sunshine State Readers pencil and they will be eligible to vote for their favorite in the spring. After reading 8 or more they will be invited to our ice cream social at the end of the year. We will have a fun quiz and prizes. If they want to participate in our NEW Shine Book Bowl they will need to read at least 12 of the 15. More news on that coming this fall. For now, just start READING!

Mrs. Baldwin
Thank you to all of our library volunteers this year, because of you we have more time to read, plan, and teach in the library instead of just putting books away!
Thank you for you support!
Our new library catalog is available for viewing on the web. This is a great way to see if we have the book you are looking for before you come to the library. Also listed are some great author websites. The visual search is a work in progress so please be patient as we set up the various categories. Just follow the link below and choose Felix A. Williams Elementary.

Remember: K, 1 and 2 may check out one book for one week. 3, 4 and 5 may check out two books for one week. Students may always “re-new” their books if they are not finished by the due date. The AR computers in the Media Center are available for taking AR tests 7:30 – 2:15. There are updated AR tests on the AR link- look for new quizzes as of October 08. If you can't find a test just come and see Mrs. Baldwin and we will see if we can get it for your child. This goes for book recommendations as well.
See Mrs. Baldwin for grade level recommendations or check out the summer reading lists on this website. The lists stay basically the same from year to year but we do add new titles as we discover them. If you have read a great book that you think is missing from one of our lists, please let Mrs. Baldwin know so we can add it to the appropriate list. There are so many great books being released that we can't possibly read every book, (but I try!) for every grade level so we count on help from the kids, parents, teachers, other Media Specialists, and the American Library Association. We would really appreciate your input.
