Dear Parents,
THANK YOU!!

We had a great book fair thanks to all of our incredible, awesome volunteers, and of course, all of the parents and students who shopped at the fair!
The Book fair helped us here at FAWE by giving us over $400 in free books for students as well as allowing me to buy over $2175 in new books for our library!!! WOW!! These new books will not only give our book covering volunteers lots to do, they will enrich our library and the lives of our students. I will also be purchasing the AR tests for new fiction ASAP so the students can continue to earn points.
Our One for Books Box earned $42 and went to Scholastic to purchase books for Toys for Tots and several other organizations helping put books in all children's hands.
I just love that part!

The new 2009-2010 Sunshine books are everywhere, Barnes and Noble, the public library and our school library. Please check out the link below for more information and the list. We also have a list on bookmarks for all the students. We would like to encourage the parents to read them along with the kids, there are some good ones this year. If a parent reads one please send in a note with your child to give to me, the media specialist, and I will put them on my list. The students will have their names on a chart in the library and they get a sticker for each Sunshine Book that they read and take an AR test on and pass with an 80 % or higher. After reading 3 they will receive a Sunshine State Readers pencil and they will be eligible to vote for their favorite in the spring. After reading 7 or more they will be invited to our ice cream social at the end of the year. We will have a fun quiz and prizes.
Follow the link to find out this years new list!!!

Mrs. Baldwin
Thank you to all of our library volunteers this year, because of you we have more time to read, plan, and teach in the library instead of just putting books away!
Thank you for you support!
Our new library catalog is available for viewing on the web. This is a great way to see if we have the book you are looking for before you come to the library. Also listed are some great author websites. The visual search is a work in progress so please be patient as we set up the various categories. Just follow the link below and choose Felix A. Williams Elementary.
Remember: K, 1 and 2 may check out one book for one week. 3, 4 and 5 may check out two books for one week. Students may always “re-new” their books if they are not finished by the due date. The AR computers in the Media Center are available for taking AR tests 7:30 – 2:15. There are updated AR tests on the AR link- look for new quizzes as of October 08. If you can't find a test just come and see Mrs. Baldwin and we will see if we can get it for your child. This goes for book recommendations as well.
See Mrs. Baldwin for grade level recommendations or check out the summer reading lists on this website. The lists stay basically the same from year to year but we do add new titles as we discover them. If you have read a great book that you think is missing from one of our lists, please let Mrs. Baldwin know so we can add it to the appropriate list. There are so many great books being released that we can't possibly read every book, (but I try!) for every grade level so we count on help from the kids, parents, teachers, other Media Specialists, and the American Library Association. We would really appreciate your input.
