FAWE Book Fair NEWS!! Book Fair Dates!! Coming SOON!!!
Our new library catalog is available for viewing on the web. This is a great way to see if we have the book you are looking for before you come to the library. Also listed are some great author websites. The visual search is a work in progress so please be patient as we set up the various categories. Just follow the link below and choose Felix A. Williams Elementary.
Remember: K, 1 and 2 may check out one book for one week. 3, 4 and 5 may check out two books for one week. Students may always “re-new” their books if they are not finished by the due date. The AR computers in the Media Center are available for taking AR tests 7:30 – 2:15.
We are currently looking volunteers to help us shelf, process and repair books in the media center for the 2008-2009 school year. Contact Mrs. Baldwin or Mrs. Dankenbring to volunteer at 219-1640 x 110.
See Mrs. Baldwin for grade level recommendations or check out the summer reading lists on this website. The lists stay basically the same from year to year but we do add new titles as we discover them. If you have read a great book that you think is missing from one of our lists, please let Mrs. Baldwin know so we can add it to the appropriate list. There are so many great books being released that we can't possibly read every book for every grade level so we count on help from the kids, parents, teachers, other Media Specialists, and the American Library Association. We would really appreciate your input.
The Media Center is looking for some volunteers to help with the Book Fair that is scheduled for TBA Please contact Mrs. Dankenbring or Mrs. Baldwin @ 219-1640 X110 if you are interested. We are in need of volunteers to help set up, break down and help students choose books. All the money goes to updating technology for our students and adding new books to our library! Last year we were able to add over 200 books to our library because of funds raised through the Book Fair.

What goes on in the Media Center?
The Media Center at Felix A. Williams Elementary School is designed to meet the needs of students, parents, and faculty by providing a wide variety of materials to supplement the elementary curriculum. Our goal is to promote reading and provide access to information. The Media Center is designed to provide a quiet, friendly atmosphere. Students are welcome to visit the Media Center at anytime during the day for book check out and return. There is also scheduled book check out one time a week for each class.
The Media Center provides many instructional resources and services for teachers and students besides the library books you may see coming home. Some of these services include: Computer Lab on the Related Arts rotation, Mini Skills classes during library scheduled block, AR assistance throughout the day, FCAT instruction for small groups, AV equipment and set up for classroom use, Professional Library materials for teachers, video and listening library, book sets, laminating, computer support throughout the school, maintenance and cataloging of the library collection, reading promotions using the Sunshine State Reader program, fundraising (for more great books and computers!) through Book Fairs and Magazine Sales, Sailfish News Network daily school news broadcasts, and the maintenance of this great website. Most importantly, the media center and its staff strives to foster lifelong love of literature and reading in all students that come through our doors.
