History of FAWE

Our school opened in August, 1994. The school was built on 26 acres with a large portion of the campus set aside for environmental activities. The campus contains a small lake and ten woodland acres with nature trails. The students can go on an environmental field trip without leaving the campus.

The school was named in honor of Felix A. Williams, a long time Martin County School District teacher and administrator. Mr. Williams was noted for starting the Martin County Special Olympics for students with handicaps and also for his desire to see all children succeed.

Our school has expanded quickly over the past few years. A new building with twelve classrooms was completed and our student population has grown to over 730 students. It is anticipated our student population will continue to grow with the many new developments in our area.
