 Principal Gail Olsen

Mrs. Olsen grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters’ Degree in Reading Education.  She graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and completed coursework/exams for her doctorate at that university.  She served as Chairman of the State of Florida Reading Textbook Selection Committee in 2002.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Assistant Principals Network.  She was a former “Teacher of the Year” at Warfield Elementary and was selected as the “Outstanding Assistant Principal of Martin County” in 2000.  She was a classroom teacher for 20 years, primarily in the first grade, and has been an Assistant Principal for the past 15 years and is very excited and to be our new principal here at FAWE!

Mrs. Olsen has one son, Scott, who lives in Orlando with his new bride, Kim.  She is interested in reading, computers, and home decorating. 

She believes that every child can learn.  One of her goals is to increase reading skills and instilling a ‘life-long love’ of reading.  Her door is always open to help parents, teachers, and, most of all, students.

 

 Assistant Principal

Howard Marder

Mr. Marder grew up in Long Island, New York and graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, a Masters' Degree in Reading, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.  He has been an educator for 29 years with experience in the classroom in grades 2 through 8 and gifted.  Mr. Marder also served in the capacity of Media Specialist, District Computer Curriculum Specialist, Assistant Principal in Elementary and Middle School, and Principal at the Elementary level.

Mr. Marder is married to Terri Marder, the Assistant Principal at Sea Wind Elementary School and has 3 children.  Beside the love for his family and the students he serves, he as a passion for sailing. 

He believes that elementary grades are opportunities to build solid foundations for social and academic skills to therefore minimize the frequency of off-task behaviors and the number of students whose achievement is not commensurate with their abilities.  He believes that joining the Martin County Public Schools at Felix A. Williams is proof that dreams really do come true.
